2017 Vollenweider Riesling Krover Steffensberg Spatlese Piedmont with silky fine-grained tanninsNearly a decade in bottle, this is Mosel Riesling at the threshold of its prime. The Steffensberg is restrained and distinguished by a fine, almost herby piquancy, now deepening beautifully into honeyed complexity, petrol, and preserved lemon, underpinned by crystalline, persistently salty minerality and laser beam acidity. Patience has been rewarded magnificently. Pair with Foie gras, roast pork with apples, or spiced Asian cuisine.
